Save The Bank

Kickstarter Launching October 9, 2026

A Piece of Aguilar Worth Saving

For generations, this building has stood in the heart of downtown Aguilar, Colorado. Once home to the town's bank, its brick walls and distinctive arched windows have watched Main Street change around them for more than a century.

Today, the building is still standing—but its future is uncertain.

Years without a roof have left the interior exposed to the Colorado weather. The second floor is open to the sky. Much of the building will need to be rebuilt, repaired and protected before it can once again become an active part of Main Street.

But when we look at this building, we don't see a ruin.

We see what it can become.

Our vision is to bring this historic building back to life as the future home of Hooper's Coffee—a place where people can grab a great cup of coffee, sit down with a neighbor, meet someone traveling through town, and experience a small piece of Aguilar.

And this project is about more than opening a coffee shop.

It's about proving that the buildings and communities people sometimes overlook are still worth investing in.

It's about preserving a piece of Aguilar's history while giving it a new purpose.

It's about creating another reason for travelers to leave I-25, turn onto Main Street and discover our town.

And it's about being part of something we hope will continue far beyond this one building: bringing life, business and opportunity back to downtown Aguilar.

We now have a signed contract to purchase the historic bank building—but we have just 90 days to secure the funding necessary to move forward.

So the clock has started.

On October 9, 2026, we're launching a Kickstarter campaign with a goal of raising $100,000 to take the next major step toward saving the building and turning this vision into reality.

This isn't the story of a finished coffee shop.

It's the story of what happens when a community decides an old building—and a small town—still have a future.

And we're inviting you to be part of what happens next.

The Vision: More Than a Coffee Shop

Imagine walking down Main Street and seeing the old bank building alive again.

The doors are open. Coffee is brewing. People are gathered around tables inside a building that, not long ago, sat exposed to the elements with no clear future.

That's the vision for Hooper's Coffee at the historic Aguilar Bank.

We want to preserve the character that makes this building special—the historic brick, the arched windows, the old bank details and the unmistakable feeling that you're standing inside a piece of Aguilar's history—while transforming it into a welcoming, functional space for a new generation.

The first floor will become the heart of Hooper's Coffee: a warm and inviting coffee shop where locals can start their morning, friends can meet, visitors can stop while traveling through southern Colorado, and people can simply sit for a while and enjoy being part of the community.

But we're dreaming beyond the first floor.

One of the building's most unique features is also one of its greatest challenges: the second story has been without a roof and exposed to the Colorado sky. Rather than seeing that only as something to repair, we see an opportunity to create something extraordinary.

Our long-term vision includes transforming the upper level into a beautiful open-air rooftop-style gathering space, surrounded by the building's historic brick walls and arched window openings—a place for coffee, conversation, community events and views of the southern Colorado sky.

And the impact doesn't stop at the walls of the building.

Every person who comes to Hooper's Coffee is another person walking down Main Street. Another person who might visit a neighboring business. Another traveler who discovers Aguilar instead of simply passing the exit on I-25.

One restored building won't rebuild an entire town. But it can become one more reason to believe that rebuilding is possible.

We envision the historic Aguilar Bank becoming a place where history, coffee and community meet—honoring what came before while helping create something new for what comes next.

That's the future we see when we look at this building.

Now we have the opportunity to build it.

The 90-Day Challenge

The vision is big.

The window to make it happen is small.

We now have a signed contract to purchase the historic Aguilar Bank building, but that contract comes with an important deadline: we have 90 days to secure the funding needed to move forward.

That means the opportunity to save this building is no longer something we're talking about doing someday.

The clock is running now.

For the next 90 days, we're documenting the journey—from the first days of planning and fundraising through the challenges, discoveries and milestones that come with trying to bring a building like this back to life.

And on October 9, 2026, we're taking the biggest step yet.

We're launching a Kickstarter campaign with a $100,000 goal.

That funding will allow us to purchase the building and begin the critical work necessary to protect it, stabilize it and start transforming it into the future home of Hooper's Coffee.

But crowdfunding works best when people don't simply watch from the sidelines.

We need people willing to become part of the story.

Every person who follows the campaign, shares the project, tells a friend or becomes a backer helps demonstrate that there is a community of people who believe this building is worth saving and that small towns like Aguilar are worth investing in.

So we're calling this our 90-Day Challenge.

Ninety days to rally a community.

Ninety days to raise the money.

Ninety days to take a building that has spent years exposed to the elements and give it the chance to serve Aguilar for generations to come.

We don't know exactly what every one of those 90 days will bring.

But we're going to document every step of the journey.

And we're inviting you to follow along—and help us see just how much can happen in 90 days.

The $100,000 Goal

Our Kickstarter goal is $100,000.

It's a big number—but so is the project in front of us.

The historic Aguilar Bank has been without a roof and exposed to the elements for years. Bringing it back isn't simply a matter of putting up a Hooper's Coffee sign and moving in. Before this building can become a coffee shop, we have to secure it, protect it from the weather and begin rebuilding the infrastructure necessary to give it a future.

What Will the $100,000 Help Accomplish?

Purchase the Historic Bank Building
The first step is making the building ours. A portion of the funds raised will complete the purchase of the property and associated closing costs.

Protect the Building From the Elements
One of our highest priorities is getting the building weather-tight again. That means addressing the roof and other areas that currently leave the structure exposed to Colorado's sun, rain, wind and snow.

Continue Structural Rehabilitation
Significant structural work has already been performed on the building, but there is still much more to do. Funding will help us continue the work necessary to safely move the restoration forward.

Begin Rebuilding Essential Infrastructure
Electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems and other basic infrastructure will need to be evaluated, repaired or rebuilt as the project progresses.

Move Toward the First Phase of Hooper's Coffee
Our goal isn't to wait until every inch of this historic building is perfect before bringing it back to life. We want to work toward opening Hooper's Coffee in phases, allowing the building to begin serving the community while restoration continues.

Cover Crowdfunding Costs and Provide a Project Contingency
A project involving a century-old building will inevitably bring surprises. A portion of the goal must account for Kickstarter/payment-processing costs and provide room for unforeseen expenses discovered during rehabilitation.

$100,000 Is the Beginning, Not the Finish Line

We want to be transparent about what this campaign represents.

We do not expect $100,000 to completely restore every part of this building.

The ultimate restoration will be a much larger undertaking accomplished over multiple phases.

This campaign is about something more immediate:

Securing the building. Protecting it. Stabilizing its future. And getting the first phase of Hooper's Coffee moving forward.

Instead of waiting until we have enough money to complete everything at once, we're approaching the restoration one achievable phase at a time.

Every dollar raised through this campaign represents another step toward putting a roof back over this historic building, putting people back through its doors and putting another piece of Aguilar's Main Street back to work.

Our goal is $100,000.

Our vision goes far beyond it.
